The donut peach is in full blossom. It’s stunning to look up the hill and see it’s vibrance. Depending on the fruit set we will do some serious thinning this year to promote growth but it’s really hard since these are some of the best tasting peaches. #spring #peaches #permaculturehomestead
Meet Daphne, Juno and Vesta! Yesterday we brought home our little flock of Katahdin haired sheep. We’ve been talking about adding sheep to the property for a while and really started to get things ready for them the last couple of months so it is so exciting to bring them onto the farm. Their niche will be to eat down the grass and forbs down the hillside while also fertilizing and lightly breaking up the surface. For the next month or so we will keep them in the yard paddock as we work on training them and allow them to grow.
Happy Spring!
Got the lawnmowers out today. We move our Kunekune pigs around the property so they can mow down the grasses, today they get to be in the yard. This is their second favorite time of year when the miners lettuce is up, their favorite is acorn season. Kunekune’s are mostly grazers and do a nice job of mowing instead of rooting. #permaculture #kunekunepigs #spring
